How it works
To set up a connection we use just one public Google service. It only helps two phones find each other – it never sees or stores the content of your messages.
- 1The phones find each other on the network
- 2The connection goes directly between them
- 3Undelivered messages disappear after 7 days at most
PhoneMe – a messenger where privacy comes first
The rule is simple: what you send in PhoneMe should be seen only by the person you send it to. Photos, voice recordings, videos and files travel straight from phone to phone – no PhoneMe server sits in between, copies them or keeps them.
The only outside piece in this setup is a Google service that helps two phones find each other on the internet – nothing more. The content of a conversation, a message or a file never passes through it.
Besides chat, PhoneMe includes the Organizer: notes, reminders, photos, videos, documents and music sorted into your own folders, with a player built right into the app. More about the Organizer. You can back this data up to your own Google Drive account – nothing happens automatically without your consent. Voice and video calls are free, with background blur and live subtitle translation.
Frequently asked questions
Does PhoneMe store my messages on a server?
No. Every message, photo or file goes straight to the other person, phone to phone. If the recipient doesn’t come online, the message waits for at most 7 days and then disappears — PhoneMe never keeps it.
Are voice and video calls paid?
No, they are completely free — both voice and video, with background blur and live subtitle translation.
Which languages does the app support?
The app itself works in 7 languages: English, Polish, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish. Message translation goes further — it runs locally on your phone and covers many more languages than the app menu.
How does the Organizer backup work?
Only when you decide — you turn it on in settings and the data goes to your own Google Drive account, using your own storage. PhoneMe doesn’t look into those files.
Do I need a phone number to use PhoneMe?
Yes. Your phone number is used to create and verify your account — you can’t sign in without it.
Do I need a Google account to use PhoneMe?
No. You create a PhoneMe account with your phone number. A Google account is only needed if you want to turn on the optional Organizer backup to Google Drive.
Is there a version for computers?
Yes. Open phoneme.pl on your computer and scan the code in the PhoneMe app (Connect to computer) – see how. Your chats and Organizer appear in the browser – the data goes straight from your phone, without being stored on a server. The computer view is currently in Polish. The app itself runs on Android.
Are Organizer files stored anywhere outside my phone?
No, by default they stay on your device. The only exception is when you turn on automatic backup to your own Google Drive account.
